Five and Six

They say time flies when you're having fun and that has never been more true than it is for us right now! These girls are growing so fast and we are having so much fun with them.
Emily might as well be a teenager with as grown as she is lately. If you ask her how old she is she will say she is 6. She is talking in full sentences, she can count to ten and recognize numbers up to 20. She knows her alphabet and loves to sing her A B C D s. She loves to sing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and Jesus Loves Me. She also likes when Mommy sings with her. It only took 35 years, and I had to give birth to her myself, but I finally have someone who appreciates my singing!
Here is our big five month old! (Who is now 6.5 months old).
She is an absolute joy! Even though she has been sick for what feels like forever, she is still always smiling and talking and just being sweet.
She "found her voice" in the past few months and now she is cooing and hollering all the time. She even makes a Da Da Da sound that thrills her Dada enormously. Her teachers continue to comment on how happy she is and say that she will just lie in her crib and smile and talk to her mobile.

Emily's hair is curly and fine and grows in a really strange pattern. It kind of starts on the crown of her head and swoops around, and it is much longer in the back. Some might call that a mullet....
She hates for us to mess with it or brush it so we decided to take her in for a little trim.
We went to a kids salon and they were very sweet to her. She cried a little and wouldn't let her daddy take his hands off her, but overall it went well.

This was supposed to be a cozy warm headband but it ended up being a suffocation hazard.

Emily turned two on Thanksgiving this year! We didn't do a party but we had a few family members over for pizza and cupcakes.
She is a huge fan of a certain little mouse, so I did my best to pinterest up some cupcakes in his honor.

She got tons of Mickey stuff that she loved, and a track to race toy cars down.

We also got her a balance bike that she rides a lot and she likes to hide things in the compartment on the seat.

Charlie, just smiling away. She has had a cough and congestion for almost two months now. We have had her at her doctors several times and she will get better and worse, off and on. The amount of snot that comes out of that girl would blow your mind!
We worry about her and hate that she doesn't feel well but hopefully it is something she will outgrow soon. She is still gaining weight and growing so all is well other than lots of boogers!

Charlie loved borrowing her cousin Anna Katherine's bouncy chair.

I got all three girls matching shirts for thanksgiving and they looked so cute! It's crazy how much babies grow in those first few months - these two are only 5 months apart, but such a difference.

Uncle Tyler thinks he is Katniss Everdeen.

All three sweeties in their Christmas pajamas!

We tried to start Charlie on rice cereal recently, with so so results. She is really drooling a lot right now so most of the food comes back out with the slobber!

Emily's teacher texted me this picture. Silly girl loves to get messy!
And I love that she has teachers who let her! We really got lucky with her teachers this year and she absolutely adores them!

She is about to out grow that pillow!

I looked away for one minute and she flipped herself off the pillow and ended up on her belly with this shocked look on her face.

Emily loves to watch YouTube videos on our phones. One day she got quiet and we found her just sitting nicely on this stool in our room, watching her shows.

We babysat AK for a weekend while her mommy was in a wedding. She was a good girl but having a newborn in the house reminds me how glad I am to be past that phase!

Six months old here! At her checkup she weighed 17 pounds. She is in the 75th percentile for height and weight and 90thfor head size. She got 4 shots and they made her feel pretty yucky that day.
At Emily's two year appointment (which was the same day - and was an interesting experience!) she weighed 26 pounds. She is about 70th percentile for height and 50th for weight.
They still love each other and just laugh and smile when they see each other.

We are all ready for Christmas and can't wait to spend some family time together!

Month Four (and a whole bunch of other stuff!)

Missed a bit of blog time, I know! Since it has been so long, and there is not really a coherent way to make all these pictures come together, I am just going to comment as I go. May or may not be in order. Definitely will be cute!

Miss Big Girl Charlie, in her t-shirt that Titi Pat (or Titi Pap, as Emily says) brought her from Italy.

A rarely allowed ponytail on Emily. She hates for us to mess with her hair in anyway - some days we can't even brush it!

Chatting with Grandaddy.

Trying out the bouncy chair for the first time.

Our morning routine these days: Charlie wakes up at 5 (ouch), we feed her in our room and then take turns getting ready and watching her. We wake Emily up at 6:30 and they watch Mickey Mouse Clubhouse together while we finish getting ready and get them dressed.
On this day Emily was feeling generous and let Charlie hold her beloved "puppy".

At her 4 month doctor visit. She is perfectly healthy and growing like a weed! She has been hovering around the 15lb mark.
We have made quite a few visits to the doctor's office with this gal in the past month or so. She was diagnosed with bronchiolitis and had to do about 2 weeks worth of breathing treatments. Then she got a sinus infection, which led to two weeks worth of antibiotics. She was all snotty, with a rough sounding cough, and she was refusing bottles occasionally - we were really worried about her, but she seems to have turned the corner finally!

Emily loves to play with our phones and she loves to take pictures of herself making silly faces.

Again with the hair bow hate!

Attempting to get in at least one picture with my girls!

This is the face we get most of the time when we try to take her picture.

She loves to stick stickers all over her face!

We took a family outing to the pumpkin patch! Emily wasn't too sure about alot of the activities - no hayride or playing in the giant bin of corn. But she loved being able to run all over the place and she LOVED picking out pumpkins!

Charlie was indifferent about her pumpkin.

More stickers on the face.

I threw Emily's "owlie" on to Charlie, just to see what would happen. This captures it perfectly! Check on the smirk on Charlie's face, and Emily's little hand in the corner, reaching in to immediately snatch that dirty old owl away.

I asked her to try on her jacket, and apparently that required crawling.

In late September, I traveled by myself for a weekend wedding in NC. Mikey took the girls to Kentucky for his sister's retirement ceremony.

I missed them all like crazy! But it seems like they got along just fine without me!

Another exciting recent event - the birth of our niece, and cousin, Anna Katherine Scarbrough!
She snuck in to the world about 3 weeks earlier than expected!

She is the tiniest little baby I have ever held, and just as sweet as can be. I am so excited for my sister and I to have girls about the same age.

While I was meeting AK, Mikey and the girls went ahead with our plans to attend a Halloween party. He is a brave man! I am not sure I would have been able to handle two little ones on my own with that much stuff going on.
Some horrible person at the party taught my sweet innocent baby Emily to say "Roll Tide".

Charlie likes to do backflips off of her pillow, so you can't turn your back on her for a second!

Daddy and Charlie, napping one more while I took a shower.

Ahh, school photos. I laugh every time I see this image!

I have no idea why Emily was so sour this day, but I had no choice but to buy these shots!
I am thinking, Senior yearbook photo? Wedding slideshow? The possibilities are endless!

Charlie fared much better in her solo pics!

Halloween 2014 did not go exactly as planned. For starters, it was freezing cold and raining. I had ordered a precious little monkey costume for C, and E was supposed to wear a little khaki dress and a hat, and be her Zookeeper.
Emily flat out refused the khaki dress.
I had thrown this Titans cheerleader dress in the bag just in case, and manage to shove her screaming body in to this one, and then distract her with candy.
Once she got the hang of trick or treating, she loved it!

Mikey with his girls on his birthday.

Charlie is really close to being able to roll over. She tries to practice all the time. This makes diaper changes interesting!

Morning pancakes and cartoons.

And finally, a shot of my adorable baby girls cuddling together.

Believe it or not, these are not the most recent pictures that I have! There are more to be downloaded - hopefully sooner rather than later!
