As an apology for missing a week, I will start with my favorite picture of Emily EVER!

YOU'RE WELCOME |
Oops, missed a week! In my defense, we were gone most of the week visiting Aunt Katie in Atlanta (more on that later). And, she has been awake for longer stretches during the day - which is awesome for playing, but makes blogging (and eating, and showering, etc) more of a challenge.
So, as I mentioned in my last post, Emily got her 2 month shots recently. Poor thing slept most of the day, and then she must have been uncomfortable or not feeling well that night, because she whined most of the night. I felt so sorry for her. At least she looked cute though, right!
The following night, she was sleeping soundly in her pack n play for the first time when we decided we needed to head to the storm shelter under the house. There were severe storms in the area, and we would rather be safe than sorry! So we bundled up the baby and all the animals and went to hang out in the basement at 2:30 am on a Tuesday. Good times.
The storm was over quickly, but it was strong and scary - the power went out briefly, the baby was screaming, the wind was banging on the garage doors....and any chance of a good night's sleep was ruined from then on. For those of you keeping score, that's two nights in a row of bad sleep for mommy. And the next day we saw that the broken old chairs that the previous owners left at the house had been blown all over the neighborhood. Oops.
The following weekend Sam, Michelle and the girls came to town for a cheerleading competition. Let me just say that I wish I sold hair bows and glitter eyeshadow....wow!
Both of the girls are really talented and it is so fun to watch them. Ryah's squad came in 1st place in their division, and Brynn's came in 2nd.
Mikey and Emily stayed home together, and he says that I must be lying about her crying during the day because she was an angel for him, of course.
Emily must enjoy teasing her mother, because that same weekend she slept through the night both nights, and then she hasn't done it since! We thought we had cracked the case - we thought she might be waking up because she was getting cold, so we left the bathroom heater on both nights. We were roasting, but she was asleep so she was it was worth it. But since then, we have gone back to waking two or three times a night - boo! I think it is more frustrating now that I KNOW she can go the whole night!! Oh well, we will get there ( I hope).

Watching the Super Bowl with my girl - excuse the lack of makeup on me.

I was reflecting back on last year's Super Bowl - we were at a party at my friend Allison's house and we were the only ones there who didn't have children. Allison had just had her youngest baby about 2 months before, and knowing that we were struggling with getting pregnant, she handed me her baby and said "Here, hold Brooklyn, that's all you need." We laughed it off (and of course enjoyed loving on that baby, no matter what) but what do you know - the very next month we were pregnant! Baby Magic!
During week 10 of Emily's life, we went to visit Aunt Katie and Uncle Tyler in Atlanta. Actually, Tyler was working in Nashville so Emily and I decided that we could sit around their house during the day as well as we could sit around ours, so we went down Wednesday. Mikey and Tyler then rode back together late Thursday night. I loaded up the dogs, the baby and half of our belongings and hit the road.

ridiculousness |
Emily slept the entire 4 hour drive, which was great. When we got there, she seemed to be in a good mood, so we headed out to dinner. The good mood was relatively short lived though, and I ended up eating my pizza one handed while I cuddled her.

Just a few crumbs on her back. |
That night, she got a bath at Katie's house. We went to bed like normal, but all that sleeping in the car caught up with her and she was up most of the night. Yay!
