Five Months

So, I could have sworn I left a little baby around here somewhere, but I have looked and looked and all I can find is this big ol' 5 month old!
She is growing SO.FAST.
I love it and hate it all at once.

She would not take her hands out of her mouth for her pictures. Which makes this much more accurate, because those hands are always in her mouth anyway!

She is very interested in sitting up, but she kind of sucks at it!
We were trying to get a picture of her sitting so Mikey would hold her and I would try to catch a shot before she wiped out.
We were laughing so hard at her!

on your mark...

get set...

fall!

now go this way...

"seriously people?"

Sweet sisters!
Emily loves sticking her hands in the dogs mouths while they lick her.
Gross but inevitable so I will just have to learn to deal with it!

Busted!
I believe we will see this look on both of their faces many times in the future.

Previous months:
(Aunt Katie says she hasn't really changed since month 1...she may be right according to these!)

Let's party, Emily is 21!! (weeks)

Lots of milestones around here these days!
Our girl is getting so big, sometimes it seems like she grows overnight. She is SO much fun to be
around - always smiling and laughing (mostly at her daddy and his funny faces).
She is very aware of us and where we are and she is always watching our every move.
This is her watching me put on my makeup before work.

She also found her feet recently. This means that socks don't stay on for long! Guess the world will now see her one flaw - Flintstone feet. They are little squares and the toenails are sharp as knives, because they kind of grow up instead of out and I can't really cut them.
Is there plastic surgery for feet?

I don't know why I keep taking variations of this same picture - the two of them nap together like this frequently. It just melts my heart though.

Aunt Katie sent me a picture of this outfit in her cart at Target, and luckily I was able to tell her not to buy it, since I had already purchased it the day before! Great minds, I tell ya!

Why does she look HUGE all of a sudden? This is never going to end is it? They just keep growing, don't they????

Emily and her cousin Erin, snoozing together at my parent's house last Friday.

We tried a little rice cereal recently. She didn't hate it, but I am not sure that a ton of it actually made its way in to her stomach!
We will try again soon.
She is now eating 8oz per feeding, and usually takes 5 bottles per day.

This past Sunday was absolutely gorgeous, so Emily and I went to the park while Mikey golfed. We went on a short nature walk, and then found ourselves a shady spot to hang out in.

Emily napped, I read, we stopped at Sonic on the way home - it was an awesome afternoon! We will definitely be repeating that one.

Emily's other new trick this week is rolling over from back to front! She has been so close to doing it for about a week but just couldn't make that last push. So the other night, we put her to bed and a little while later we checked the monitor and, what do you know, she was on her tummy!

I managed to restrain myself and only went in to flip her over twice - once when she was up against the rails and fussing, and once at midnight when I checked on her and she was face down on the mattress. Logically I know that she is strong enough to turn her head and she won't smother, but I just couldn't sleep knowing she was lying that way.
So far she only flips in her crib though - we haven't seen her do it "live", only over the monitor.

Since my parents have their house on the market, we have moved some of their stuff to our house temporarily. My mom has a bouncy chair for Emily and it is here now.
The first few times we put her in it she just kind of hung there and smiled at us. This time she was playing with all the stuff herself!
Not much longer and those toes will touch the floor.

Emily went to check the mail with Daddy last night.

And then they tried to take a peek at the bird's nest on the top of that column.

And that is how Emily spent her week!

Gatlinburg weekend

Hello there friends! I slacked at blogging last week. It's just that I sometimes feel that I am running running running from the minute my alarm goes off until Emily goes to bed at night, and some times I just am too lazy to get the pictures off my phone. Don't get me wrong, life is amazing right now and I wouldn't change a thing, but sometimes I just need to sit and stare at the tv!
So here are some pictures of Miss Em and our trip to Gatlinburg with the Rodriguez family.

Outfit pic before daycare.

I am doing fewer outfit pictures lately, because we are recycling outfits and I figure they were cute enough once and I don't need to photograph them twice.
Someone passed out while drinking her last bottle of the evening.

Another daycare outfit

We rode the Skylift in Gatlinburg

Yay for sunny weather!

Just watching those girls cheer wore her out!

Mini champion!

Pretty blue eyed lady

Relaxing after a long day.

After the Saturday cheerleading, we came back to our hotel and the three of us pretty much slept from 6:00 pm until about 7:00 am. It was glorious.

Paul's thank you present for watching our dogs while we were gone.

Easter Week

Emily began her Easter holiday weekend with a trip to the pediatrician for her 4 month check up. Here was her reaction to hearing that there would be shots.

She didn't mind the first half of the doctor visit though, because she got to play with the yummy exam table paper! (Now that I think about it, she has been sick since we left there....maybe that paper isnt as clean as you might think it would be!)

Last time she got shots, she slept all day so we decided to keep her out of daycare just in case she felt a little puny this time as well. Mikey took off work and they had a daddy/daughter day.
First they went to Grandma & Grandpa's house and Emily checked out her rocking chair that Grandpa painted for her.

Then they went to Chick Fil a with Aunt Katie and Uncle Tyler.
I imagine this is Emily's face after hearing she couldn't play on the playground.

Luckily, she got an ice cream cone to make up for it.

On Good Friday, daycare was closed so I took the day off and we went shopping with Katie.
We went to Opry Mills to pick up our race packets for the 5k we were running the next day.

On the morning of the race, Emily got dressed in her Easter gown and headed to Miss Leslie's for a while.

On Easter morning, we woke up to see what the Easter bunny brought.
(a.k.a. show Emily the stuff that  had been sitting in the basket on the counter all week)

Sophie the Giraffe was a hit.
As was the tissue paper in the bottom of the basket.

Later in the day, my family came over for Easter brunch.
Thanks to Aunt Susie, we have some pictures of this. I forgot to take any.
Here is Emily and her great Grandaddy Corky.

Emily and Great Aunt Susie

Her Great Aunt Elaine brought her a sweet Easter basket with all kinds of goodies, including these ears. She totally looks like she is just humoring us fools.

She was an excellent hostess all throughout the busy weekend.
But after the family went home, she was D.O.N.E. She pitched a big ole fit and then when Mikey laid her down on her belly for a minute - pretty much just to set her down and brain storm what comfort measures to try next - she passed out cold. We spent the next few hours hovering over her making sure her mouth wasn't covered, but glad she was getting some good rest.

Easter goodies from Laura and Taylor!

That jingly monster has been hanging from her seat for weeks and she just discovered it this week. She loves batting it around now.

Cousin Ryah was here!
They stopped by on their way through town, and spent the night.
We are leaving tomorrow after work to meet them in Gatlinburg for a weekend cheer competition.

Busy times around here lately!

Emily has been home from daycare the past day and a half because she has a nasty sounding cough, and a lot of congestion. I took her to her doctor again on Wednesday and he diagnosed her with bronchiolitis and recommended we keep her home.
She hasn't seemed to feel bad at all, but her cough sounds awful and is just pitiful. We are keeping a close eye on her and doing what we can to make her more comfortable.
She is not a fan of the snot sucker bulb!

Hopefully we will have a clean bill of health to report next week!
